I hope that this year will be everything you want it to be!
Here is a pic of the completed fan, mounted on sticks and sunning itself in the pansies.
I have to admit that I am charmed at the end result, and the recipient was happy too.
25 motif challenge
We will call this one no 19 - sorry about the photo - camera is not happy at the moment :(

Now for the New Year Project!
My aim this Summer is to make the ring pillow (lessons 7-10) from Barbara Underwood's Floral Beds in 20 Lessons book.
I hope it is not true that what starts the new year will continue as I cut this off this morning!
I started it a couple of days ago in finca 60 (labelled as equivellent to tanne 50 as called for in the pattern), but having unpinned the first repeat this morning, and wanting to complete the whole pillow, I think I will like it much better in finca 80. Life is just too short to make the whole thing in a thread I am not happy with!
Hmmmm...shades of Barbara's workshop there as the same thing happened - lesson not learned!
While waiting for pics to download, I made the first ring on the final round of the Lizbeth doily, and have now cut that off too :(I am going to go focus on the first pattern repeat on the tatting, then wind bobbins and start the ring pillow again! There WILL be progress today!!
Happy New Year everyone, thanks for the friendship and kind words throughout 2009, and I really look forward to the continued friendships and sharing in 2010.

Laura, the fan is beautiful. I'm amazed that you could bring yourself to give it away!
Just gorgeous Laura.
Happy New yEAR.
Hi Vanessa,
Most of my lace finds a new home - if I kept it, there would be no reason to make more :) When I ordered the sticks, I ordered 3 sets - 1 for my student, 1 for Lisa and 1 for myself...now I just have to make myself a fan :)
Thank you Artylady. And a very Happy New Year to you too :)
The fan looks wonderful :-) the ring pillow edging looks interesting, have just popped a note in my book to try finca 80 when I get to that one.
Wow, that fan is fabulous.
Beautiful the fan!
Happy New year, Laura! :)
Your fan is fabulous, she must be some friend to deserve that!
Happy New Year and continued blogging.
Happy New Year, Laura! The fan is gorgeous! Someday I hope to be able to create one for myself!
Absolutely blown away by the lovely fan (I collect fans). Where do you buy your sticks? I have a couple of fan patterns and I ought to at least 'try' making one.
Your friend is so fortunate to receive this as a gift. You are a woman after my own heart, I love to give a gift that I would like to receive myself. LOL
Beautiful work...those cameras and scanners sometimes just don't behave as they ought.

Hi Guzziesue, I love the ring pillow pattern, and am now 2 heads thru take 2! Will show you a pic when I remove a few pins :)
Thanks Jane, high praise from a great tatting designer :)
Thank you Maia and welcome! Also a happy new year to you too.
Hi Tatskool, my (maybe oneday) SIL received the fan for Christmas. I make lots of lace for her because I know she appreciates it, and I love the quilting and books that return :) Happy New Year to you too, and I look forward to many bloggy moments.
Hi Diane, I designed this fan for a student, but really enjoyed it. How is your bobbin lace progressing? Say, a tatted fan could be fun!
Hi Bev, and welcome! John Beswick from Torchon House in Adelaide, Australia made my sticks. They are leatherwood, designed for this fan and were very reasonably priced. Technology is a wonderful thing when not frustrating the *&%&$ out of me :)
Happy New Year! That fan is absolutely gorgeous! Wow, that is one lucky "recipient"!!! What a treasure.
Thanks for sharing your tatted lace! It's always fun to see tatting in blogland.
The lace in the bottom photo is exquisite! What a gorgeous pattern! I looks very delicate like a snowflake!
